Note: Before we start, I would like you all to know that I do not mean to hurt anyone's feelings, sentiments, religion, caste etc. I just want to share interesting facts and information through these blogs. Thank you!

Namaste! I am very excited to write this blog because this is about the most haunted place in India. The place that I am going to be writing about is the Bhangarh Fort. It is located on the border of the Sariska Wildlife Reserve in the Aravali ranges of hills in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, near the village Gola Ka Baas. There have been many such strange incidents that are said to have occurred because of the presence of evil spirits and that is why The Government of India has forbidden anyone to visit the fort after sunset as a precautionary measure. Let us find out some more about this infamous fort.

The History
The Bhangarh fort is said to been built in the 17th century by Man Singh I (one of the Nine Gems of Akbar's court) for his son Madho Singh I. There are two stories on why this fort is haunted. Let us have a look at them.

Legend 1 -

This image is of Princess Ratnavati. According to this legend, she was very beautiful and a local black magician fell in love with her. To make the princess fall in love with him, he cast a spell on the cosmetic she was supposed to use but, the plan failed. The princess found out about this and foiled his plan by throwing the cosmetic onto a rock which fell on the magician and crushed him. The black magician in his final moments cursed the palace that no soul would ever be able to live in peace there. Thus, the fort is haunted to this day.

Legend 2 -

This legend is not very well known. King Madho Singh I built the fort after obtaining permission from an ascetic named Bala Nath, who lived there previously. He gave the permission on one condition, that the shadow of the fort must never fall upon his hut. Unfortunately, one of Madho Singh's successors built fortifications which ruined the plan of the fort and it cast its shadow upon the Bala Nath's hut. Due, to this reason, the fort is haunted.

There many strange incidents that have occurred in and around this area. People who live nearby, claim that they hear screams from the fort in the night. Not scared yet? Here is another incident.

It was the winter of 2011. We had heard a lot of stories about Bhangarh Fort, so we decided to go there and check for ourselves. The fort closed at 5 p.m., but we had come this far and decided to see the fort anyway. We bribed the keeper who then let us sneak in. An hour into the fort, we were hanging around and laughing because we didn't witness anything paranormal. Just when we were about to leave, we saw a man sitting near a window with iron grills. He looked completely zoned out and wasn't looking at us. We looked closer in the room to see who it was, when my friend said, " Oh my god! How did he enter when there is no other door to come into this room!" The figure smirked at us. Scared out of our wits, we just ran away.

While stories like these are often circulated, many people also say that they haven't experienced any such incidents. Here is a video that you can watch.

So, what is the conclusion? From what I have researched, I do not see any threat in this fort. The screams people have heard may be actually sounds of the animals living in this area. Also, I feel that people experience these incidents because of the fear in their mind which may be the reason why they hallucinate things. But again, you never know. This just my opinion. Feel free to express yours in the comments section. With this, I bid you all farewell and hope to see you again next week.
Thank you for reading!
